*Andrew opens the door, and closes it behind himself. And stands there for a few seconds.*

Jonathan looks at him sharply and sits up, attention caught by something in his face or voice.

"Hey. What's up?"

Uh. Couple things.

*Andrew leans against the edge of the desk, half-sitting on it.*

Anyone tell you about Faith?

"No, I haven't been... what? What happened?"

His eyes are intent on Andrew.

She kind of --

*He pauses, breathes out, breathes in again. His voice is flat.*

The front door opened just long enough for us to see. She was fighting a demon on the edge of a Hellmouth. Different one, not the Sunnydale one.

She dragged it in. Into the Hellmouth. She's trapped there now.

The response is instant and automatic.

"What can we do?"

*A pause.*

-- We tried. Tim tried my summoning spell, and that didn't work, and he tried a huge portal spell, and that --

Jonathan is shaking his head in denial before Andrew's even finished.

"No. There has to be some... isn't there?"

Dream says ...

Dream says she's going to get herself out. Somehow.

He told Tim to stop, when we did the summoning spell. Said it was making it worse.

Jonathan doesn't like it, but he nods reluctantly.

"At least she gets out."

Yeah.

*A pause.*



There's more.

Almost resigned, now. "What?"

*He's not meeting Jonathan's eyes.*

When we saw her? The first time? Door opened just long enough to show us, and then closed. And I tried to open it again. To get to her, you know?

...And it opened. On the motel. Place I left from.

There's a long still moment, almost stretched, as Jonathan thinks over the implications of that.

Finally, dully, "Right."

*Andrew looks up, and meets Jonathan's eyes.*

*He looks miserable. And terrified.*

I don't know what to do.

"You should go home, of course." Emotionless, though his eyes aren't. Jonathan knows that's what Andrew should do. Fight the good fight, and all.

I can't just leave.

"Not - not right now, maybe. But soon."

*Andrew bites his lip, looking at Jonathan's face.*

I don't want to go.

Jonathan looks away.

"I know."

And it, it's not --

We were all here, and then Warren got alive again, and now --

*Andrew swallows hard.*

If any one of us deserved another chance it was you.

It's not fair.

"Warren got his original body back", Jonathan points out, but there's hope growing in his eyes.

*Andrew fumbles in his pockets for the ubiquitous notebook and a pen.*

"I've actually never tried anything like this", Jonathan admits.

*Andrew pauses, then grins up at him -- the old Let's Try Something Crazy grin.*

Me neither.

And Jonathan can't help grinning back.

"Let's do it."

*Andrew offers a handshake to seal the deal.*

Jonathan shakes his hand without hesitation.

*And if Andrew holds onto Jonathan's hand a little longer than he needs to, and grips it a little tighter ... well, maybe that's understandable.*
